The Project Goal

Asian Wander Women (AWW) needed an event landing page for their first-ever summit (which was a huge success!).

Emily Fang, the co-founder, and the team of this business and travel community for Asian women, whose model is,

“Wander on your own terms

worked hard to create not only the first-ever summit for their community, but the first of its kind in the world.

The landing page needed to match their brand and be cohesive with the rest of their website. We kept in mind the usability and ease of each section for all attendees. It needed to scroll in a way that followed their thought process.

For the summit, attendees would want information on the events and activities throughout the summit period; in this case, it was a 4-day event. Information on booking, pricing, location, sponsors, partners, team, and FAQs are some of the essentials for an event page—and these were sections that we added for AWW.

The Process

We strategized on all the information and content needed to run a successful conference-type event. I laid out the structure for the sections we knew were necessary and determined which features required custom coding for seamless interactions. Copywriting and media files were gathered and organized into folders and documents in Google Drive.

I custom-coded the Event Schedule section for the event attendees to easily check the timetable and activities of the four days. Without making the event page too long, we created four tabs for each day. Each tab item displayed a journal planner-style list of events for the day, including the event’s time, title, description, and a photo of the speaker (if it was a keynote or panel).

Since AWW already hosts events through the ticketing platform Eventbrite, which serves as a great marketing channel, I embedded the event’s checkout page as a pop-up on AWW’s landing page, linked to a ticket purchasing button throughout the page. Since Squarespace does not have a table block, I custom-coded the pricing table to match their branding and this summit event page.

Anyone coming from AWW’s Instagram, Facebook community, or Google search can visit this landing page, which is linked to their social media profiles. Once they click on the link to the summit page, they can proceed directly to purchase a ticket in the hero section (the very first section you see on a webpage).

No Squarespace table block? NO PROBLEM! I can custom-code a table that works and looks great for your website or webpage.

The only pages we made external were the team page, as this landing page was becoming too lengthy. The Team page acted similarly to the Speakers section. It showcased team members with their photos, names, event roles, and social media links.

The Speakers section was also custom-coded, allowing the bio of each speaker to be viewed within the same section and staying on the event landing page. The biographies were created as a pop-up. When a user sees a speaker that interests them, they can click on their bio to learn more about them. Users can also access the Speakers section directly from the top menu of the event landing page.

The Results

The AWW summit had a turnout of over 80 attendees!

It was an honor to have worked on the AWW event landing page and to have been invited to the summit in Taiwan! I was so grateful that attendees personally told me the website was very well done. It was amazing seeing them use the website during the summit.

The attendees at the summit happily scrolled through the event page, especially checking out the day's events. The most clicked-on section of the page was the Schedule. Throughout the 4 days, attendees periodically checked the Schedule section for the next event or activity.

As an Asian woman who owns a small web design business—but makes a BIG impact—and has a passion for travel, this was a dream project to collaborate on.

The Happy Client’s Testimonial

"Amy was instrumental in getting our website and pages up for the Asian Wander Women travel summit in Taiwan 2024. She was communicative, well spoken, and worked really hard to help us with our website launch. She could see UI details that we couldn't, as well as offer her personal experiences on how viewers would access the page. We're big fans of her and will continue to root for her personal success! Would highly recommend to anyone needing website design support and consulting."
